Wisconsin men’s hockey fell to the Michigan State Spartans in overtime at ‘The Frozen Confines: Big Ten Hockey Series,’ an outdoor event at Chicago’s Wrigley Field on Saturday. Ranked No. 1 in the USA TODAY/USA Hockey Poll, the Spartans opened the contest with a 2-0 edge in the second quarter. Wisconsin, however, battled back.

Michigan State remained No.1 in both national polls and will travel to Penn State, which earned its first conference win this past weekend.

The Penn State men’s hockey team earned its first Big Ten Conference victory of the season Sunday, dropping Notre Dame, 3-0, in South Bend, and ending a nine-game winless streak in conference play. It was the longest such streak in program history, matching a mark from Penn State’s first season in the conference.

Penn State, which outshot MSU 14-5 in the third period, rallied to tie the game at 2-2 with less than two minutes to play while skating on a power play and with its goalie on the bench in favor of an extra attacker when Ben Schoen tipped in a shot in front of MSU goalie Trey Augustine.
