Ukraine's air force said on Friday Russia attacked it with 72 drones overnight though it downed 33 of them while 34 others disappeared from radar without reaching their targets.

Russia's Foreign Ministry on Saturday denounced new U.S. sanctions against Moscow's energy sector as an attempt to harm Russia's economy at the risk of destabilising global markets and said the country would press on with large oil and gas projects.

The White House, now unconcerned about the effect on gas prices and inflation, blacklisted two of Russia’s biggest oil producers and nearly 200 tanker ships.

Some 180 vessels, dozens of traders, two major oil companies and some senior Russian oil executives, are designated in the sanctions, reports of which pushed global oil prices above $80 per barrel. [O/R].
