AMD is having some of its latest Ryzen 9000-series desktop CPUs made at TSMC's new fab in Arizona. So claims Taipei, Taiwan-based journalist Tim Cuplan. It was reported last year that AMD was planning on having some high-performance CPUs made at TSMC's Arizona facilities.

TSMC's chip foundry in Arizona is not just making one Apple chip, as a second Apple design is reportedly now in production at the facility.

The news comes in the same week that independent journalist Tim Culpan reported that the chipmaker has secured a second Apple product for production at its Arizona fab, with the previously reported AMD product now being named as the Ryzen 9000, codenamed Grand Rapids.

TSMC agreed to expand its planned investment by US$25 billion to US$65 billion and to add a third Arizona fab by 2030.

The bulk of TSMC’s production remains in Taiwan, but its efforts to build foundries abroad—notably Germany and the U.S.—seem to be attracting big-name chip customers. (The Germany fab is expected to come online by 2027.
